Invasion of privacy and libel

The article I found was on USA Today about Ashley Olsen, who is suing the Enquirer for libel and false light of invasion of privacy. Olsen was photographed on Feb. 21, in witch her eyes looked half shut, and a misleading headline. Although the Enquirer doesn't say she was doing drugs it implied that she was, and also went on to talk about Olsens boyfriend's and accusation of him selling and doing drugs.
I think that Olsen had a right to file the law suit, because of how the article was done. Especially if the picture taken looked like she was on drugs, and because she appeals to a younger audiance, it paints her in a bad light as a role model. On top of that the tabloids talks about Olsen's boyfriend's suposed drug use, and as a person reading you would assume the article is about her doing drugs, especially if pictures implied that she was doing drugs.

Artificial Eye Slide Show

I thought that this slide show was really informative, but very boring. There was no music or any ambient sound, it was mostly the narrator who was talking except for maybe a few seconds of a client who talked about his story and why he needed the artificial eye. The pictures were really good, it went with what he was talking about. Although this was a boring slide show, I think that it is what it is, because it's for information purpose.

Quote

when quoting it usually means to using everything that is being quoted. However, after reading and working on the article in class, it was tough to read through quotes that had bad grammer. Therefore, grammer is very important for readers unerstand what thier reading, especially when there are words that people might not understand for example, when the article used "helluva" some people might not know what it means. So when quoting it is okay to clean it up a little but, still be careful not to change the quote, and if so paraphasing would be a better option, then changing a quote to much.

Narritive lead

In "27 Dresses," Katherine Heigl plays the perennially single woman who's "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" and who has a closet full of unattractive, frilly frocks to prove it. It makes for an entertaining story line. But, in reality, bridesmaids dresses aren't as frumpy as the movies make them out to be.

The writer used a narritve lead here, becasue this stroy isn't so serious it's about fashion, therefore, it needs a lead like this one to draw people's attention by using the lates movie "27 Dresses" to relate to anyone who has been a bridesmaids or anyone who has watched the movie.

nut graf: In fact, experts say they've gotten to be downright - would you believe it? - stylish. Pretty, even.

first blog ever

Hello my name is Nai, i took journalism 110 and learned alot about the media, and it's influence on viewers. The most intresting thing i've learned in journalism 110 was when i was writing my paper on altering photoghapy in the journalism. This paper was not easy, but i'm glad i did it. I learned how important it is to keep a picture at it's puriest, so that it's not a lie. Wich is very important when pictures and images invoke so many differnt emotions with viewers. So I am looking forward to journalism 120.
